Volim ovaj narod - Vreme

In the 1950s, once peace had finally settled over our region, the women of the Upper Dragačevo area began to awaken. They wanted the same things we want today: freedom, togetherness, solidarity, education, financial independence. Back then, they achieved it together, side by side, by doing what they knew best: weaving.

The cooperative settled in Donji Dubac and, at its peak, brought together more than 800 women from the surrounding villages. The women wove, exchanged knowledge, organized courses and workshops, held exhibitions, and traveled to fairs around the world. Weaving helped them become literate, change their habits, and support their households.

Neke nove žene - Vreme

Rajka Borojević came to Donji Dubac in 1951, intending to help the local people, above all the women, who had helped her and her family during their time as refugees in the Second World War. Every winter, when there was no field work to be done, she spent four years teaching the women of Dragačevo the basics of nutrition, hygiene, childcare, and good manners - the fundamentals of modern living.

At that time, the weaving tradition was still very much alive. The women of the region had woven for as long as anyone could remember. Empowered by these courses, they founded a women's cooperative section whose output was highly regarded: original, relevant to modern life, yet made in the traditional way.

Neke nove žene - Vreme

The very first course Rajka held in Donji Dubac was, fittingly, called "Modern Household."

Our studio creates textile products for the home, hoping that their cheerful design will serve as a reminder of how easily everyday moments, like preparing a meal for loved ones, can become an occasion for joy, pleasure, and celebration.
